Espoo, Finland – Neste has announced the commissioning of new terminal capacity at ONEOK’s terminal in Houston, Texas, marking a significant expansion of its sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) supply capabilities in the United States. The new facility provides Neste with storage capacity of up to 100,000 tons (around 33.5 million gallons), enabling the company to better serve airlines operating east of the Rocky Mountains, including those on the East Coast.
The terminal in Houston is strategically connected to the region’s energy pipeline infrastructure, allowing for efficient distribution of Neste MY Sustainable Aviation Fuel™. This development builds on Neste’s previous achievements, including the successful supply of SAF to New York’s LaGuardia Airport in 2021 and the expansion of its renewable fuels supply on the West Coast with terminal capacity in Los Angeles, California, in September 2023.
“Neste is fully committed to supporting the U.S. aviation industry in its efforts to decarbonize. This expansion of our SAF supply capabilities working together with partners such as ONEOK along the fuel supply chain underlines this commitment,” said Alexander Kueper, Vice President of Renewable Aviation Business at Neste. “It provides a reliable basis for supplying SAF to domestic and visiting airlines at airports across the eastern part of the country as well as a solid base for supporting policies on state, federal, and local levels in the U.S.”
ONEOK, a key partner in this endeavor, is one of the largest diversified energy infrastructure companies in the United States. “As a valued partner providing critical energy to the aviation industry, we’re proud to utilize our extensive infrastructure platform to facilitate growth within the sustainable fuels markets,” commented Greg Lusardi, senior vice president of corporate development at ONEOK.
